  • Centenary Memorial Computer Lab

    The Centenary Memorial Computer Lab is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide students, researchers, and faculty members with the latest in computing technology and resources. Located at the heart of Newmans Block, the lab is accessible to all students, offering an environment conducive to both individual study and collaborative projects. The lab features a spacious ergonomic layout with comfortable seating and ample workspaces. The lab is open to accommodate students’ diverse schedules, making it a convenient study space.

  • Computer Lab

    A Computer Lab with the latest technology-based computer systems which include good computing facilities. The computers are installed with Linux/Windows operating systems and application software for conducting the official laboratory courses. All computers are connected with a high-end network and supported by multiple high-speed dedicated internet connectivity.

  • Department Library

    The department has set up its own library keeping in mind the necessities of the students and the teaching responsibilities of the faculty. It has a good collection of technological books as well as core subjects in the field of computer science.

    IT Fest – AIGNITE 2026

    The Department of Computer Science, St. Berchmans College, Changanassery, is organizing AIGNITE 2026 (Ignite Ideas, Innovations and Intelligence through AI) — an AI-focused intercollegiate fest on 19 February 2026.

    Aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Viksit Bharat, and the *India AI Summit 2026*, AIGNITE aims to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical AI applications among students.

    Alumni Association Inauguration – Department of Computer Science

    The Department of Computer Science, St. Berchmans College (Autonomous), inaugurated its Alumni Association on 26 January 2026 at 4:30 PM in the CS Department (Newmans Block). The event marked the formal establishment of a vibrant alumni network aimed at strengthening lifelong connections between former students and the department. The initiative seeks to foster collaboration, mentorship, professional networking, and continued engagement within the CS community. With the presence of our Principal Rev. Prof. Teddy Kanjooparampil, Former Principal  Fr.Reji P Kurien  and  HOD Dr. Antony Mathews, the event marked a significant step toward establishment of a vibrant alumni network aimed at strengthening lifelong connections between former students and the department.

    3) Red Hat Academy Inauguration – Empowering Future IT Professionals

    On December 16, 2025, the Department of Computer Science at St Berchmans College (Autonomous), Changanassery, proudly launched the Red Hat Academy in collaboration with Red Hat India Pvt. Ltd. and ipsr solutions ltd. This transformative academic-industry partnership brings globally recognized training in Linux, Cloud, DevOps, and Open-Source technologies to our campus.

    Blessing Ceremony of Saint Carlo Acutis Computer Lab

    The Department of Computer Science, St. Berchmans College, organized the Blessing Ceremony of the Saint Carlo Acutis Computer Lab on 15 December 2025 at 9.30 AM. Established as part of the CSR initiative of South Indian Bank and the Centennial Computer Lab funded by RUSA, the facility aims to strengthen the institution’s digital infrastructure and enhance hands-on computing and learning experiences for students. The inauguration marks a significant milestone in the department’s commitment to technological advancement and academic excellence.

    Carlo Acutis Tech Conclave 2.0 – Unveiling the Digital Truth: Advancing Forensics in a Connected World

    The Department of Computer Science, St. Berchmans College, organized the Carlo Acutis Tech Conclave 2.0 on 04 December 2025. Centered on the theme “Unveiling the Digital Truth: Advancing Forensics in a Connected World”, the conclave brought together academicians, researchers, and industry experts to deliberate on emerging trends and challenges in digital forensics, cybersecurity, and connected technologies. The Chief Guest, Dr. Abin Oommen Philip (IIT Kottayam), delivered an expert address highlighting emerging perspectives in digital forensics and connected technologies. The programme also featured a felicitation by Dr. Joseph Ponnoly, Cyber Security Researcher who shared insights on global trends in cybersecurity and digital investigations.The event fostered intellectual exchange and promoted innovation-driven discussions among students and faculty.

    Outreach Program: AI Makes Life Smart & Cyber Security Keeps It Safe

    The Department of Computer Science organized an Outreach Program titled “AI Makes Life Smart & Cyber Security Keeps It Safe” on 21 November 2025 at St. Joseph’s GHSS, Changanasserry, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS). The programme aimed to create awareness among school students about the practical applications of Artificial Intelligence and the critical importance of cybersecurity in ensuring safe digital practices.

    Faculty Empowerment Programme & Curriculum Design Workshop

    The Department of Computer Science organized a Three-Day Faculty Empowerment Programme and Curriculum Design Workshop in collaboration with the SB Academic Section, Curriculum Committee, and IQAC. Conducted on November 3, 4, and 6, 2025, the workshop focused on strengthening faculty expertise in curriculum design, technology integration, and outcome-oriented academic planning, with a vision to introduce the MCA programme in the forthcoming academic year.

    Industry Visit to UST Campus, Trivandrum (23rd  September 2025)

    An industrial visit to UST Campus Trivandrum, was organized on 23rd September 2025. The visit commenced at 9:30 AM, providing students with valuable exposure to the corporate environment and current industry practices.The visit proved to be an enriching learning experience for the BCA students.

    Key Highlights:

    •  The session began with an introduction to emerging trends in technology and the latest industry platforms.
    •  Resource persons shared valuable insights on the expectations of the IT industry from fresh graduates.
    •  The discussions emphasized the importance of competency development, continuous self-motivation, and staying updated with current technologies.

    National  Workshop

    The Department of Computer Science at St. Berchmans College, Kerala, is organizing a National Workshop on “Data Science Essentials: Learning to See the Story in Data”, scheduled for September 18-20, 2025. The workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of essential data science techniques, offering participants hands-on experience to interpret data and derive meaningful insights.


    Objective of the Workshop

    The goal of the workshop is to introduce participants to the fundamentals and practical tools of Data Science. The workshop will focus on the application of data science techniques to real-world scenarios, enabling participants to visualize, analyze, and derive insights from data. The sessions are aimed at fostering critical skills in Python programming, data handling, machine learning, and data visualization.

    Environment Day

    • The Department of Computer Science  organized Environment Day on June 5, 2025, in collaboration with Bhoomitra Sena of SB College. The event fostered awareness about sustainability, bringing together students and faculty for insightful discussions and initiatives aimed at protecting our environment. The event commenced with an inauguration ceremony, tree-planting initiative and environment-themed poem recitation .A highlight of the celebration was the Environment Day Photo Contest, Amal Joseph of  2 nd BCA got First Prize, P Sidharth Mohan of 3rd Bsc Mathematics won second prize  and Sudheesh K S of 2nd BCA got Third prize.

    Reading Day Celebration 2025

    The National Reading Day Celebration 2025 was held to promote the joy of reading and instill a love for literature among students. Centered around the theme “Today’s Reader, Tomorrow’s Leader”, the event highlighted the importance of reading in developing thoughtful and informed individuals.

    1. “Book of My Heart” Competition – Students shared emotional and intellectual reflections on their favorite books.

    Industry Visit to ICFOSS, Trivandrum (23 June 2025)

    An industry visit was organized for 3rd year Computer Science students to the International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS) in Trivandrum on 23rd June 2025. The objective was to provide students with practical exposure to advancements in Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), IoT technologies, and real-world project development.

    Key Highlights:

    • Introduction to IoT technologies and related platforms
    • Demonstration of open-source hardware and software in smart device development
    • Exposure to ongoing research and development initiatives at ICFOSS

    Association Inauguration & Tech Launch: Welcoming Innovation at St Berchmans College

    The Department of Computer Science at St Berchmans College conducted the Association Inauguration and Tech Launch on August 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Kavukattu Hall. The event marked the formal commencement of the academic year’s association activities and tech-driven initiatives.

    The inauguration was graced by the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Ajo Pezhumkatti, Deputy Administrator of Marian College (Autonomous), Kuttikkanam, who delivered the keynote address and officially launched the tech initiatives of the department.Leadership and coordination are provided by Rev.     Berchmans Expert Talk Series: Ancient Insights for Modern Life

    The Department of Computer Science at St Berchmans College organized an expert talk titled “Ancient Insights for Modern Life: Exploring IKS, Ayurveda, and Indian Philosophy” on August 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Kallarackal Hall.

    The session featured Dr. Sanal Krishnan, Specialist Medical Officer at the National AYUSH Mission, Government Ayurveda Hospital, Kothala, Kottayam, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Krishnan shared valuable perspectives on the relevance of traditional knowledge systems (IKS), Ayurveda, and philosophical thought in today’s fast-paced world.The initiative was supported by the IQAC, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre, and the Institution’s Innovation Council, aiming to bridge traditional wisdom with contemporary learning.

    Launch of Certificate Program in Cyber Security in Collaboration with Skill Hub and EY

    • Conducted a meeting with EY Officials on May 20th 2024 and Introduced a program focused on cyber security to empower students of SB College .

    World Environment Day Observance on 5th June 2024

    • Celebrating Environment Day with initiatives to increase the awareness of environmental conservation and We planted a cashew nut tree.Devnand, BCA III Year student, awarded first prize for Best Presentation showing students ideas,research and solutions on Land Restoration, Stopping desertification and Building drought resilience .

    Reading Day Celebration on 19th June 2024

    • Encouraging literary engagement through a review writing competition as part of our Reading Day activities, fostering a culture of reading and reflection among students.     Day1 Highlights:

    • A session on “Career Pathways” was conducted by Mr. Vinod VS, Senior Manager at EY, offering valuable insights into future professional opportunities.
    • A class on “Personality Development” was led by Brigadier O. A. James Retd., emphasizing essential skills for personal and professional growth.
    • Alumni Talks featured Mr. Athul Biju, Technology Associate at ACABES International, and Mr. Arwin Eldho, Customer Service Associate at Federal Bank, who shared their experiences and offered guidance to our new students.

    Day2 Highlights:

    Student Induction Program

    • A one-week induction program was organized for First Year BCA students, was inaugurated by Principal Rev.Reji P Kurian and SF Director and Vice Principal Rev.Dr.Teddy C. Kanjooparampil, featuring a variety of activities such as yoga, sports, games, group discussions, and real-life exercises focused on mentoring and universal human values On July 19th.     • A comprehensive awareness session on cyber security on 21st Aug 2024, hosted by Mr. Arun Mohan Cyber security Professional at NIELIT Calicut, aimed at educating students about online safety and the latest trends in cyber threats.

    • Honoring our educators with a Teachers’ Day celebration, CS Association expressed gratitude for their dedication and commitment to shaping the future of our students.     • One day seminar on 21st Oct 2024 to sensitize the students and teachers about the context of Indian culture and civilization including its knowledge system and Tradition.     Carlo Acutis Tech Conclave

    • Department of Computer Science launched  Carlo Acutis Tech Conclave 2025, invited talk series of the Department of Computer Science, named in honor of the young tech visionary Carlo Acutis. The event held on February 4, 2025, at 9:30 AM in Kavukattu Hall, focusing on the theme “AI for Individual & Social Good.” The inauguration will be led by Mar Thomas Tharayil, Archbishop of Changanassery, and the event presided by Rev. Fr. Reji P. Kurian, Principal. Dr. Joseph Ponnoly, Management Consultant, Cyber Security Researcher, and Data Scientist, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. The conclave aims to bring together experts and innovators to discuss cutting-edge advancements in computing and technology for societal benefit.

    IT Fest 2025: Embracing the Future of Information Technology

    • The Magnera event, organized by the Department of Computer Science at St. Berchmans College on March 06th, offers an exciting opportunity for students external to showcase their skills in gaming and technology. With its retro-themed setup and a prize pool of 40K, the event fosters creativity, strategic thinking, and technical prowess. This initiative not only promotes a competitive spirit but also encourages students to explore the intersection of computer science and interactive entertainment, reinforcing key concepts relevant to their field.

    Reading Day Celebration 2025

    The National Reading Day Celebration 2025 was held to promote the joy of reading and instill a love for literature among students. Centered around the theme “Today’s Reader, Tomorrow’s Leader”, the event highlighted the importance of reading in developing thoughtful and informed individuals.

    Key Activities:

    1. “Book of My Heart” Competition – Students shared emotional and intellectual reflections on their favorite books.
    2. Book Exchange Initiative – Encouraged peer interaction and community bonding through the sharing of books.

    • Creative and heartfelt submissions that reflected deep engagement with literature.
    • Strengthened literary culture and student interaction through book sharing.

    Industry Visit to ICFOSS, Trivandrum (23 June 2025)

    An industry visit was organized for 3rd year Computer Science students to the International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS) in Trivandrum on 23rd June 2025. The objective was to provide students with practical exposure to advancements in Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), IoT technologies, and real-world project development.

    Key Highlights:

    • Introduction to IoT technologies and related platforms
    • Demonstration of open-source hardware and software in smart device development
    • Exposure to ongoing research and development initiatives at ICFOSS

    The visit effectively bridged academic learning with industry practices, enriching students’ technical knowledge and industry readiness.

    The Department of Computer Science at St. Berchmans College is organizing an enriching event titled IGNITE: Master Your Mind and Sharpen Your Focus aimed at enhancing mental clarity and concentration. Scheduled on June 25, 2025, the session will feature insightful talks by Dr. Binsai Sebastian from the Berchmans Institute of Management Studies and Mr. Ramesh Pillai, a Certified Yoga Teacher and Evaluator.

    The Department of Computer Science conducted Workshop for BCA and PG students on July 30, 2025, at 9:00 AM in the Centenary Memorial Computer Lab, the event features Dr. Ajith G S from the Department of Computer Applications at Amal Jyothi College of Engineering as the keynote speaker. The initiative is supported by IQAC, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre, and the Institution’s Innovation Council. Leadership and coordination are provided by Rev.     Association Inauguration & Tech Launch: Welcoming Innovation at St Berchmans College

    The Department of Computer Science at St Berchmans College conducted the Association Inauguration and Tech Launch on August 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Kavukattu Hall. The event marked the formal commencement of the academic year’s association activities and tech-driven initiatives.

    The inauguration was graced by the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Ajo Pezhumkatti, Deputy Administrator of Marian College (Autonomous), Kuttikkanam, who delivered the keynote address and officially launched the tech initiatives of the department.Leadership and coordination are provided by Rev. Prof. Dr. Teddy C Kanjooparambil (Principal), Dr. Jomon K V (Vice Principal), Dr. Antony Mathews (Head of the Department)

    Berchmans Expert Talk Series: Ancient Insights for Modern Life

    The Department of Computer Science at St Berchmans College organized an expert talk titled “Ancient Insights for Modern Life: Exploring IKS, Ayurveda, and Indian Philosophy” on August 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Kallarackal Hall.

    The session featured Dr. Sanal Krishnan, Specialist Medical Officer at the National AYUSH Mission, Government Ayurveda Hospital, Kothala, Kottayam, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Krishnan shared valuable perspectives on the relevance of traditional knowledge systems (IKS), Ayurveda, and philosophical thought in today’s fast-paced world.The initiative was supported by the IQAC, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre, and the Institution’s Innovation Council, aiming to bridge traditional wisdom with contemporary learning.
