Library

St. Berchmans College Central Library, the heart of the college, was established together with the college and was later shifted to a five-storied architectural dwelling in 1973. It has been a cornerstone of our community for decades. From humble beginnings to modern hubs of learning, we have evolved to meet our patrons. Our library holds 142228 books and subscribes to 157 journals and periodicals and has 4 databases, namely DELNET, N-List, EBSCO, and Prowess IQ.

The first floor has an open space for general reading of newspapers, periodicals, journals, etc., as well as the General Reference section. This floor also houses our digital library, the librarian’s cabin, and a conference room. Bookshelves are arranged subject-wise and separated into different sections as Stack 1 (fourth floor), Stack 2 (second floor), and Stack 3 (ground floor), while the Management Section (MBA section) and Stack Room are also on the second floor. A separate Reference Section (PGR) has been allocated for PG students on the third floor.

Our library is also enriched with special collections, namely Gandhian Studies, Madhavikutty collections, Syriac collections, Durrell collections, Career collections, Hermann Gundert collections, Braille collections, Hindi collections, book bank collections, etc.

The facilities that we provide are book reservations, book loans, reference services, referral services, current awareness services, reprographic services, journals and magazines, an internship program for library science students, library training, orientation for new users, OPAC, WiFi access, public access, previous year question papers, and Divyangajan’s corner.
